Our Story
Hacienda La Esmeralda is arguably the originating force for geisha rise to prominence in the 2000’s. During the 2004 Best of Panama competition, the Peterson family had done something different and submitted lots based on separate areas of their farm. One particular lot was 100% geisha where it amazed everyone with its incredible intense fruit-forward and floral qualities. It went on to win the 2004 Best of Panama competition and set the world record price at the time for a coffee at an auction. Today they continue to produce incredible coffee and we are excited to sharing them with you.

“Portón 5 NB was harvested on March 3rd, 2025 in the Portón lot located in Hacienda La Esmeralda’s El Velo farm. After harvest, the coffee cherries were taken to Hacienda La Esmeralda’s mill in Palmira, where they were slow dried for 47 days on raised beds.”
